- About the History, Decor and Design
The residence, built by M. de Lota in 1899 in the Gothic revival style, was recently the home of a Bourbon prince. This quiet section of the 16th is a few minutes walk to the Champs Elysees, and is surrounded by mansions and embassy residences. Built around a private garden courtyard, this recently renovated residence with mobile air conditioning has all the finest traditional French details including fine moldings, silk wall upholstery and wood paneling as well as a modern chef\'s kitchen and beautifully appointed marble bathrooms with Venetian plaster walls. The pantry off the kitchen houses a washer and dryer.
The sun-drenched living room and adjoining library each have 15\' ceilings and their own fireplaces. The grand living room is perfect for entertaining or simply relaxing with friends. The walls of the living room are covered with wood paneling and silk damask from Lyon. The library has fine French plaster decorative moldings on both the ceiling and the walls. From the living room, it is a few steps up to a lovely dining room overlooking the garden and featuring a hand-made Zuber wall mural, recognizable to those who treasure fine art. A full bathroom with Jacuzzi is located upstairs near the library.
A fully equipped chef\'s kitchen, designed by Snaidero, also features a breakfast table.
The master bedroom suite is located downstairs on the garden level. This master suite was designed in the Louis XVI style and features an ensuite bathroom, plush carpeting, upholstered walls and built-in closets. The second bedroom is very spacious and like a little suite with a sofa and a double bed on the corner, The beatiful marble bathroom is just adjacent to the second bedroom.
All the furniture and draperies in this wonderful residence have been designed by the well-known New York-based designer Etienne Coffinier.
